Austin, Texas, 1980, a couple of agents provocateurs infiltrated the Libertarian Party with the message that “we” needed to surrender to the Soviet Union or risk being attacked and (defeat, slavery, nuclear winter, climate change, Armageddon, doom of Humanity… you-name-it) One of our Libertarian Candidates for City Council, Fred Ebner, remarked that any effort to imagine what an agent provocateur would look like always brought young Jeffery the Jihadist to mind.
Before Cold War intrigues gave way to today’s attempts by Republican and Mohammedan religious fanatics to entangle the U.S. in their Crusades, Jihads and Inquisitions, everyone–even Texans, knew the meaning of “provocateur.” Nowadays government schools do a good job of training youth to gun down each other and faculty, but not so good a job teaching political economy and history.
The clipping above is a 1909 article from when Republicans and Democrats were murdering Filipinos, while Socialists were blowing up stuff and shooting people in Europe. Here’s what it says:

A few months ago a socialist named Bourtseff fraternizing with the international Socialists at Paris made an exposure of Azeff’s machinations in the Paris newspapers and succeeded in bringing the case before the revolutionary tribunal in Paris, but before it could take any action Azeff fled and is supposed to be now in Russia. The substance of Bourtseff’s charge was that Azeff had been for years acting as an “agent provocateur” of the Russian police. An Agent Provocateur is a secret spy who incites his comrades to deeds of violence and then betrays them into the hands of the authorities. The point here is that there is such a thing, and in the rough-and-tumble of politics, provocateurs and infiltrators have been around for a long, long time. Here’s a more recent example:
In 1972 the preferred approach was still to infiltrate the LP with “former” communist, SDS and Youth International Party soi disant converts and cause voters to associate with libertarians that odor of skunk so familiar to Texas chicken ranchers. This sufficed to cause Ayn Rand to endorse Richard wage-and-price-controls Nixon over the LP’s Hospers-Nathan ticket. To appease the soon-burgeoning Freeze & Surrender movement were added planks proposing to make child molesting not just legal, but mandatory!(link) This was seized on by the NAMBLA Guy at TIA, to hoots of delight from the Republican National Committee, CPUSA and the DNC. The suicidal plank was finally whittled down and papered over with instructions to read the stub as something else, NOT pedophilia. Here’s the vote share result:

Today the anarchist infiltrator tactic is to get our platform to say we want to encourage uninspected entry by Saracen berserkers, infected cattle, lazy parasites, illiterate malcontents, brainwashed communists and fascists fleeing their own economic collapse and seeking a less decayed welfare State. This they label “free trade”[!] To preserve the communist income tax they direct opprobium at a revenue tariff instead.(link) Already dues-paying members and regular donation providers are turning away from what was once a thriving party with a vote share increasing at 80% per year.
