Nazi Snowflakes then and now

Nazis outside of Syracuse

See original newspaper story (link)

Google News Archive contains the Spartanville Herald-Journal report of German Ambassador Dieckhoff getting all bent out of shape over former U.S. Ambassador William Dodd’s insensitive and hurtful comments on Hitler having his enemies rounded up and shot. As a private American citizen, Dodd could say anything he pleased. The story ran on 15JAN1938. An American comedian is said to have been arrested by National Socialists for a Berlin nightclub quip that most dictators jail their enemies; but Hitler jails his friends!

But that was then and this is now and America, right? Not so fast! At Syracuse University, according to Reason Magazine, The Tab Syracuse, a social media account that covers Syracuse University news, posted a photo of a syllabus that references the coronavirus as both the “Wuhan flu” and “Chinese Communist Party Virus.”(link) Here again, nothing hurts socialism like the truth leaking out.(link)

You can test this theory by describing a school owned and coercively operated by any level of government as a “government school” in the presence of intellectuals of the looter persuasion. The descriptor is objectively accurate, yet collectivist programming requires hotly riposting with the false belief that coercion is voluntary and that “The” government is “the” people–unless the wrong party is elected.

Oddly, the most strenuously worked up are the weak-minded derivative socialists divided along religious lines. “Right” conservatives wish they had the fortitude of Hitler, Franco, Mussolini and Moseley, while “Left” progressives pine for the decisiveness of Bellamy, Howells, London, Browder, Reed, Lenin, Mao and Marx. Today’s Bushes, Romney, Christie and Palins are just as insipid and tentative as Ocasio-Cortez, Pelosi and Sanders compared to the real thing in the bottom square.

The yellow streak

The yellow streak seeks to parcel out coercion

To recognize that a communist dictatorship released a germ warfare agent on the planet is thoughtcrime pure and simple.(link) When the Soviet communist dictatorship next door allowed an unnoticed Xenon buildup to explode and ignite a  power reactor with no containment powering a military radar, looter newspapers knew better than to even hint of such an event even as fallout triggered radiation alarms all over the globe.(link) Yet the folks triggered and upset by the thought the communist virus may have been a germ weapon are just as upset by mention of the cover-up. (link)

Objectivists and libertarians are no less consistent in the defense of freedom than are communists and fascists in their insistence on coercion. Only the confused, cowardly or indecisive seek to compromise on a Guyana Kool-Ade cocktail blending free speech with censorship. Why not take a stand and cast a highly-leveraged law-changing spoiler vote for freedom and categorically against coercion? Why not send a message on principles instead of paranoia and personalities?

Prohibitionism destroys the banking system

Almost everywhere in the world people sip a cold one in biergartens, backyards, sidewalk cafés–but Wizened Christian Temperance Union Amerika, under laws left over from Andrew Volstead’s Minnesota and the Anti-Saloon League–ain’t one of them places. Fortunately Americans have a choice. You can choose not to vote–people in Australia and Brazil have no such option. You can also choose to vote for Libertarian freedom instead of the mangy, sclerotic soft machines that want men with guns to shoot young people over plant leaves and confiscate their property.

The pro-slavery and protectionist parties that dragged us into a civil war over tariff policies are still in business. Indeed, the Communist Manifesto, written even as they girded for violence, is still a thing to a huge dictatorship that “accidentally” poisons the planet with germ warfare weapons from time to time. The communist party is over 170 years old, and the Dems and GOP even older.

Communist dictatorships collapsed in the 1990s, but were not replaced by libertarian societies. Instead, there was a reversion to superstitious mercantilist mixed economies featuring less chattel slavery and colonial rule, but otherwise fairly authoritarian. The media and academia are so heavily infiltrated that it is impossible today to find a chart showing how the fraction of humanity under communist rule has varied in recent decades. Go ahead, try it, and get back to me if you do.

spoiling for a fight

The number of libertarian voters struggling to replace kleptocracy machine candidates over time is easy to find. Ways are found to keep them out of office, but even that is breaking down under the increase in libertarian voter support. Yet before 1972 there was total hopelessness. War enslaved men into involuntary combat, and prohibitionism brought wars and banking collapses.

Money deposited with banks and brokerages is low-hanging fruit to looter governments. When seized on some pretext, owners of unseized money withdraw it from the fractional-reserve banking system. The economy collapses, communism and looting in general increase, and the media are charged with explaining the whole thing as the result of “too much” freedom or “not enough” coercive regulation–which amounts to the same thing.

After the Nixon Anti-Libertarian Law passed, news media understood that pretending the crashes had nothing to do with hatchet-wielding Treasury, tax and prohibition agents was a lucrative source of cash. And so it is today. Yet every individual can make a huge difference by the simple act of casting a vote for Libertarian freedom and against the senile politicians of the GOP and Dem soft machines.

Me First!

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

Individualist values

“From now on I’m thinking only of me.”
Major Danby replied indulgently with a superior smile: “But, Yossarian, suppose everyone felt that way.”
“Then,” said Yossarian, “I’d certainly be a damned fool to feel any other way, wouldn’t I?”–Catch 22

Concern for one's safety in the face of dangers that are real and immediate is the process of a rational mind

Joseph Heller

1961 was a good year for individualism. Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, eight years in the making, was finally published.(link) Robert Heinlein thumbed his nose at the officious editor who’d persistently harried him on the silliest pretexts, and penned Stranger in a Strange Land, wherein Jubal Harshaw confesses:

My dear, I used to think I was serving humanity… and I pleasured in the thought. Then I discovered that humanity does not want to be served; on the contrary it resents any attempt to serve it. –Robert Heinlein

Today we vividly remember 2001 as not at all like Arthur C. Clarke predicted. Instead of moon colonies we again got murdering religious fanatics on a rampage combining racial collectivism and mystical eugenics. Yet that was only 19 years ago. In 1961 people remembered with equal vividness the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor two decades earlier. Like when initiation of force and faith brought on the Prohibition and Capitation Tax Amendments, along with World War One. This was followed in two decades by the 1940s alliance of murdering religious fanatics on a rampage combining racial collectivism and mystical eugenics–and brought an eerily familiarity, disconcerting to grownups at the time.

Freedom is Slavery

Making the world safe for christian altruist eugenicism

In 1945 the true meaning of Positive Christian altruism, of “the common good before the individual good” was discovered amid starvation and lice. The value of the accepted Eugenic premise that altruism and good were the same thing suddenly had become way too clear when Russian and American troops discovered death camps in and all around Germany.  Many of them eventually read Atlas Shrugged, which included a non-aggression pledge penned by Ayn Rand while nazi war criminals were sorted out between the gallows and prison cells. That was at Chapter Ten of an eleven-year writing process. But in 1961, Atlas Shrugged was a new book people had only just read. That was 63 years ago.

All those who place their faith in fire...

Blind faith, fanaticism and the initiation of deadly force, ergo this

In 2001 Soviet communism had collapsed ten years earlier. In 2020, the Libertarian Party approaches its 50th anniversary. American communism pervading the media and Democratic Party, and American nationalsocialist prohibitionism pervading the Republican Party, are dying.(link) Both chose altruism and the initiation of force as standards of value and correctness. Both are better off gone.

Hockey stick for Libertarians!

Libertarian vote share after Bush asset-forfeiture crash

Just as oil replaced coal, wood and dead whales, and bytes replaced CDs, cassettes and vinyl records, the Libertarian Party is replacing dangerous fossils the way democracies replaced monarchies, sultanates and sheikdoms a century ago.(link) It is replacing the Kleptocracy with a government–not anarchism–to secure individual rights, and not a moment too soon. Heinlein noted that “Man, as a social animal, can no more escape government than the individual can escape bondage to his bowels.” He also observed in a very nuclear age that “Each sunrise is a precious jewel… for it may never be followed by its sunset.” I you vote for the initiation of force, you will probably get exactly what you voted for.

LP candidate meets the press-gang

Like nearly all actual libertarians I was thrilled to see Jo Jorgensen beat Das Boothead, Angry Shellshocked Vet, Hanging Judge Dred and other uninspiring contestants. And it is a pity that a goofy voting system kept her from having Jacob Hornberger as the competent Vice-Presidential candidate she and I preferred.(link) But her first “friendly” LPTV interview could have gone better.

Jo agreeing with prohibitionist characterizations? (link)

So now what we have is a community of poor people, because the government put them all in one place, where they can’t help each other, and guess what’s the only way you can drive a Mercedes? The only way you can drive a Mercedes is if you sell drugs. So now, what the government has created is an enclosed community, without fathers, and the only role model is the drug dealer, who’s got the, the great jewelry and the Mercedes. And now we’ve got a criminal as the role model. It is just tragedy what the government has done to motivation and incentive.

So… prohibition scofflaws are bad people who buy fossil-guzzlers from The Accursed Hun? Contrast THAT with what HL Mencken said about “drug” dealers back when light beer was a hard time felony

What is needed, obviously, is a new hero for the infantry of the land, for if one is not quickly supplied there is some danger that the boys will begin admiring Y.M.C.A. secretaries, crooked members of the Cabinet and lecturers on sex hygiene. In this emergency I nominate the bootlegger not, of course, the abject scoundrel who peddles bogus Scotch in clubs and office buildings, but the dashing, romantic, defiant fellow who brings the stuff up from Bimini. He is the true heir, not only of the old-time Indian fighters and train-robbers, but also of the tough and barnacled deep-water sailors, now no more. He faces the perils of the high seas in a puny shallop, and navigates the worst coast in the world in contempt of the wind and storm. Think of him lying out there on wild nights in winter, with the waves piling mountain-high and the gale standing his crazy little craft on her beam! Think of him creeping in in his motorboat on Christmas Eve, risking his life that the greatest of Christian festivals may be celebrated in a Christian and respectable manner! …

This brave lad is not only the heir of Jesse James and Ned Buntline; he is also the heir of John Hancock and all of the other heroes who throttled the accursed Hun in 1776. All the most gallant among them were smugglers, and in their fragile craft they brought in not only rum but also liberty. The Revolution was not only against the person of the Potsdam tyrant, George III; it was also, and especially, against harsh and intolerable laws the worst of them the abhorrent Stamp Act. But was the Stamp Act worse than Prohibition? I leave it to any fair man. Prohibition, in fact, is a hundred times as foul, false, oppressive and tyrannical. (link)

Quick to learn, however, our candidate gave a much better account of herself before the Public Brainwashing System interrogator over at Nationalsocialist Public Radio:

SIMON: I’ve got to ask you about your running mate. His name is Spike Cohen. He calls himself an anarchist. He says he’s running to troll the system. He has a platform that promises, as I understand it, free ponies and a Waffle House on every corner.

JORGENSEN: I believe you are reciting the presidential platform of one of my competitors who lost, and Spike is now on my team. And so no, that’s not our platform.

SIMON: Well, it’s not your platform. You mean – are you saying Spike Cohen never said that?

JORGENSEN: What I’m saying is now that Spike Cohen has joined my team, we’ve got a combined platform that is mine. (link)

Already Jo is deftly coping with the humiliation of having a communist anarchist impostor thrust on her campaign by machinations of the Anschluss Caucus.(link) Good work!

Monteiro Lobato wrote a pro-American book bristling with eugenics and endorsements of Prohibition in 1926. Here is the science fiction story of the U.S. presidential election of the year 2228, translated into English by J Henry Phillips. (link)

Vichy Canadian Collaborators

Religious conservative collectivism

The groundwork for a National Socialist takeover and Occupation of France was prepared in Canada in March of 1850. Shocking as it sounds, there is no denying the parallels. The pre-Bastiat appeal is primarily to unproductive hands (politicians, clergy) and other dim bulbs (cognoscenti, intelligentzia, workers).

When Hitler’s armies conquered France in June of 1940, they changed the French national flag, motto and money. Liberté, Fraternité, Egalité became Travail, Famille, Patrie (Work, Family, Nation)–as befits a racial collectivist workers’ party (arbeiterparty). The 1850 Quebecois version above dinned Religion, Family, Property into its listeners’ ears. Quebec was 36% of Canada back then, and the country dominated by Catholics and Protestants–much like Germany when voters put the NSDAP in charge in 1933.

Interestingly, Canada’s religious conservatives pushed through an anti-abortion law in 1968. Granted, this was less restrictive than earlier laws also prohibiting sale, distribution and advertising of contraceptives, but it was a shocking step back toward the Dark Ages at a time the US was electing Richard Nixon. A Canadian physician was arrested and charged, but the forming of the Libertarian Party–with a pro-choice woman on the ticket that earned an honest electoral vote–occurred in 1971-2.

In 1973 a Quebec jury acquitted Dr Morgentaler and the US Supreme Court decided in favor of individual rights for women. Fanatics appealed, jailed the good doctor, made additional charges and intimidated Parliament with a petition to ban abortion. This backfired in 1976 and by 1982 Canadian legislation protected the rights of individuals, male and female. All medieval religious laws (except prohibition laws) were abolished in 1988, but mystical zealots resorted to murder and firebombing. The people remembered who had threatened and coerced them, and have since left the houses of organized mysticism in droves.

Huge decrease in brainwashing

Reduced dependence on mysticism

The good news is that there are 600% more nonmystical freethinkers in Canada than when Nixon Republicans were causing refugees to again pour into Canada.  The bad news is that renewed attacks on individual rights have attracted other medieval mystical cults famous for mutilating women. Germany has suffered a similar reaction to its past behavior. National Socialists in East Germany were simply replaced with Soviet Socialists in the “denazification” program there.

Here’s hoping Canada’s Libertarian Party Platform Committee drafts a suitable response to reassert freedom and rights before they’re gone with the wind.
