World population in 1930 was just over 2 billion back when Corn Products Refining’s Argo plant was the largest supplier of the corn sugar from which over 95% of all beverage alcohol in America was made. The plant was located (spoiler alert!) next to Cicero, where the Capone brothers helped voters select appropriate politicians to help keep saloons and speakeasies open. Shootings abounded, many of them dry killers shooting motorists or Coast Guard patrols machine-gunning entrepreneurs supplying the Windy City with Beelzebub’s Beer and The Demon Rum. These shootings the Methodist Board of Temperance and Public Morals had applauded as God’s own warfare against controlled substances they declared narcotics. It’s like a natural law: For every initiation of force there is unequal but apposite retaliatory force.
Will Rogers described the situation resulting from laws against production and trade (rather than violence) with good-humored understatement:
“Well all I know is what I read in the papers. Now just what has been agitating the natives? Oh, yes! Can you imagine arresting a man in America for carrying a gun nowadays?
Why, in Chicago there is a pistol pocket put in your pajamas. There is thousands in the underworld there that are faultlessly dressin’ in artillery, that haven’t got underwear on.” –Will Rogers, 30MAR1930 (link)
Anarchy worked OK for Comancheria–before General William Tecumseh Sherman demonstrated the superiority of modern genocide over primitivism. But in prohibitionist industrial Chicago anarchy meant warfare, plain and simple. Chicago was again violent when conscription press gangs grabbed black and white citizens as cannon fodder for the former French opium regie of Cochin China, later renamed Vietnam. Gangs of “narcotic” agents meanwhile kicked in doors and shot people over hemp twigs and seeds, or nontoxic entheogens. Harvard professor Timothy Leary went into exile sheltered by the Black Panthers. So where does this lead?(link)
Other states are repealing these vicious and violent usurpations as quickly as can be managed, but not Illinois. It is true that Illinois politicians claim to have “decriminalized” hemp leaves. But lots of people claimed the Dems had promised to do the same in 1972–which was a lie. That platform bristled with the same ignorant violence as did the Republican half of the Kleptocracy.(link)
Why be fooled again? Why not vote for what you want instead of being manipulated by fear and social pressure into throwing away your vote. An independent vote instantly has 25% more clout. This was verified in the Solomon Asch experiment in dozens of repetitions.(link)
