All I know is what I read in the papers. Here is a news article about self-censoring media in the Great Depression that followed the Panic of 1907–a depression brought on by Pure Food and Drug law enforcement of that year. The Kaiser of Germany spoke too freely and two governments joined forces to cover it up for 26 years. The Atlantic published the interview in 1934. That was the year Herbert Hoover’s Narcotics Limitation Convention of 1931 made the essential principles of a planned economy into law and frightened German pharma into backing the Nazis. See the article: (link)
The famous “lost interview” is presented in the May issue of the Atlantic monthly magazine by William Harlan Hale, son of the man to whom Emperor William II, of Germany, spoke so freely and so indiscreetly. This is the gist of the views expressed by the Kaiser: The inevitable world crisis was a clash between Japan and Occidental nations: East and West must meet, and the West must conquer. Great Britain was guilty of a sort of political miscegenation and allying herself with Japan. [Japan quietly made British Indian opium into morphine for sale to China. Eventually Formosa (now Taiwan) began farming opium and coca].
War Held Necessary. War was necessary. War was Christian. Theodore Roosevelt, then president of the United States, was his hero – a dominating, militaristic leader he hoped he himself was. Thus the Kaiser spoke. It was in July, 1908, that he consented to the interview by Hale, close friend of Theodore Roosevelt. The meeting was on the Imperial yacht, Hohenzollern, at anchor in the fjord of Bergen. In the Atlantic Monthly, Hale writes that the Emperor voiced “the most amazingly indiscreet statements ever uttered by the head of a great nation.” (…)
World Situation Dangerous. The world situation was precarious at that time. The first-rate powers were in a fine state of balance – like a mixture of chemicals, ready to explode. The Russo-Japanese war was three years past. Germany was carrying on a naval race with Great Britain, a military race with France. The Algeciras conference, had left Germany somewhat of an Ishmael among nations. So, the German foreign office evidently believed that the Kaiser had spoken too freely. The Hale interview was to appear in The Century magazine, December 1908. (…)
“In a world of practical facts,” the Kaiser said, “we have to fight, even for righteousness’ sake. The Bible is full of fights – jolly good fights some of them were. It is a mistaken idea that Christianity has no countenance for war.” He contended that the sword should clear the way for the missionary. With the assertion that the world’s greatest warriors had been Christians, the Kaiser turned to the Japanese. The trouble with them,” he said, “is that they don’t want any religion.
Asiatic Situation. The Asiatic situation was the Emperor’s chief theme. “Everybody knows what must come to pass between Asia and the West, the yellow race and the white,” he said. [This is nearly a decade after the Monteiro Lobato book, English title America’s Black President, predicted France would succumb to the yellow peril.(link) It was also a couple of years before socialist orator Jack London produced “The Unparalleled Invasion,” featuring genocidal destruction of the entire Chinese race.] (link)
“We know this much about him” (the Japanese) the Kaiser declared. “He hates the white man worse than the white man hates the devil. The Japanese are devils, that’s a simple fact. They are devils.” (…)
Religion was the next subject. Hale makes this comment: “clearly, he esteems himself a Lord with spiritual as well as temporal responsibility.” “The future belongs to the white race, never fear,” the Emperor exclaimed. “It belongs to the Anglo-Teuton, the man who came from northern Europe – where you to whom America belongs, came from – the home of the German ***.” “It belongs to the fair-skinned man, and it belongs to Christianity and to Protestantism. We are the only people who can save it. There is not power in any other civilization or any other religion that can save humanity; and the future – belongs – to us!”
***
[This is where I find these ominous parallels between TR’s Comstockist race-suicide theories, Kaiser Wilhelm’s Christianizing racial jihads for “the fair-skinned man,” Adolf Hitler’s Christian enlistment of National Socialist Womanhood into dams for breeding altruist Hitlerjugend, and today’s Trump Trilbys. All are bullies seeking to use the violence of law to AGAIN impose these lamentable superstitions on the defenseless.]

Race-suicide laws 78 years after National Socialism
Germany’s leader addressed the Nazi Womanhood organization after rallying the Hitler Youth movement at Nuremberg Stadium, September 8, 1934. Adolf Hitler assured his listeners that “The National Socialist Movement has not only seen but also found in woman its most loyal assistant from the time of its conception onwards.” Thirty-nine years later, “Stockholm Syndrome” would be coined to describe how Swedish bank robbery hostages cringed fawningly and Patti Hearst genuflected and robbed a bank to please captors. The appetizer was flattery:
“That which perhaps only few philosophically gifted intellects are capable of analyzing scientifically can be sensed by the nature of an unspoiled human being with instinctive certainty. The feeling and, above all, the nature of woman has always acted throughout the ages as a supplement to the intellect of man.” This he followed up with thanks to Providence, and a few unkind words on the side to Christianity’s competitors: “The catchword “Women’s Liberation” is merely a phrase invented by the Jewish intellect, and its contents are marked by the same spirit.” The entrée was a rehash of Teddy Roosevelt’s Republican Party eugenics.(link) Hitler called on “woman to devote her life to maintaining and multiplying this important cell” and summoned “the willingness of the man to safeguard life.” Then came The Sting.
“Every child to which she gives birth is a battle which she wages in her Volk’s fateful question of to be or not to be.” Here, as in Roosevelt’s letters of 1902 and 1907, was the assignment of guilt, the blame for race suicide would fall on shirkers disdainful of God, hence easy prey for intellectuals!
“We will stand up against an intellectualism of the most depraved sort which would tear asunder what God hath joined. Because woman originates in the most basic root of all, she is also the most stable element in the preservation of a people. Ultimately, she has the most infallible sense for whatever is necessary to prevent a race from ceasing to be, for her children would bear the major brunt of all the suffering.” Hitler then made it clear that Collectivism and Duty are the true values, and sneered at “rights,” bragging:
“…we have gained, in millions of women, the most loyal and zealous fellow fighters. Female fighters for a life together in the service of together preserving our life. Fighters who fix their gaze not upon the rights which a Jewish intellectualism pretends to offer them, but upon the obligations Nature has burdened us with.”
The reader’s honesty will discern the similarities among these mystical variants of communo-fascist totalitarianism, and newspapers record how popular the German version of eugenic collectivism was among American Silver Shirts, Klansmen, Bundists and Radio Evangelists supportive of Herbert Hoover and Adolf Hitler and totally enraged by Franklin Delano Roosevelt–seen as a “traitor to his class” and totally unsupportive of his fifth cousin Teddy’s legacy. (link)
Certainly those Republicans never expected the Anschluss, death camps or genocidal war. Even today many are genuinely surprised to learn of Army of God devotées blowing up parks in Atlanta, machine-gunning police and civilians at a women’s clinic in Colorado or methodically murdering physicians out of passionate zeal for their “pro-life” movement. Like Christian National Socialism before them, God’s Own Prohibitionists are dedicated to three propositions: 1. women must be stripped of individual rights when pregnant 2. the Political State must send men with guns to coerce females to reproduce by involuntary labor as before the 13th Amendment was ratified, and 3. leaders who seek to back these propositions with what Adam Smith called “the violence of law” are ethical Christian leaders who–though they walk, talk and sound like Adolf Hitler, are nothing at all like Hitler, or Mussolini, or Franco, or Vargas, or Ceausescu or Dave Smith.

Republicans struggle to forget Teddy Roosevelt’s 1902 and 1907 letters on the dangers of race suicide. To jog the memory of libertarians, here is the story. Teddy despised libertarianism. This he makes clear in a 1902 letter critical of a woman’s article. This sets the tone:
“An easy, good-natured kindliness, and a desire to be “independent”—that is, to live one’s life purely according to one’s own desires—are in no sense substitutes for the fundamental virtues, for the practice of the strong, racial qualities without which there can be no strong races—…. But the man or woman who deliberately avoids marriage, and has a heart so cold as to know no passion and a brain so shallow and selfish as to dislike having children, is in effect a criminal against the race, and should be an object of contemptuous abhorrence by all healthy people.” (link) [Hitler was thirteen-and-a-half at the time the U.S. President denounced unreproductive women as criminals]
“Teedy” followed these thoughts with a second letter 5 years later, angrily scolding a magazine editor for allowing a statement contradicting Rooseveltian eugenic theory to see light. T.R. harrumphed:
Our people could still exist under all kinds of iniquities in government; under a debased currency, under official corruption, under the rule of a socialistic proletariat, or a wealthy oligarchy. All these things would be bad for us, but the country would still exist. But it could not continue to exist if it paid heed to the expressed or implied teachings of such articles as this. These teachings furnish excuses for every unnatural prevention of child-bearing, for every form of gross and shallow selfishness of the kind that is really the deepest reflection on, the deepest discredit to, American social life. … … all schemes about having “doctors in public schools,” about kindergartens, civic associations, women’s clubs, and training families up in this way or that are preposterous nonsense if there are to be no families to train; and that it is a simple mathematical proposition that, where the average family that has children at all has only three, the race at once diminishes in numbers, and if the tendency is not checked will vanish completely, – in other words, there will be race suicide. (link)
At the time, the Comstock laws banning ALL forms of birth control were in full and brutal force.(link) In Austria, Adolf Hitler was turning 18. Is it possible that Theodore Roosevelt, like Edward Bellamy, helped shape the boy’s attitudes regarding women’s duties to The Race? Hitler loved Wild West stories, and could easily have perused a translation of T.R.’s The Winning of the West (1896), which asserted, to Ayn Rand’s later dismay, that:
“… the most ultimately righteous of all wars is a war with savages… it is of incalculable importance that America, Australia and Siberia should pass out of the hands of their red, black, and yellow aboriginal owners, and become the heritage of the dominant world races.” This was when Hitler was seven. This stuff was tremendously popular as tensions rose between Balkan opium producers and Austria’s Big Pharma. Hitler’s own Catholic Church was keenly interested in race suicide preoccupations, as was Mussolini’s government.

The Libertarian Party started competing with a model platform that gained us vote share at 12% a year for 8 years.(link) This scared the living lice off the Looter Kleptocracy, which outnumbered us 500 to one and had billions of dollars in pelf, boodle and Nixon funding with which to put us out of the running. They did the exact same thing they were good at: sending in spies, infiltrators and saboteurs to “help us improve” our platform, just like government spies hounded many original libertarians in Haight-Ashbury.(link)
The most recent attacks, after our 4 million votes flipped 13 states again packed our meetings with anarco-communists and anarco-fascists. The result was a return to the 1% level of vote share those same infiltrators have kept us at since 1980. Here in his own words is what the poster child for girl-bullying anarcho-fascism had to say after Trumpista Anschluss turned the LP into a party run by religious bigots.
The guy claims his name is Dave and that the Austrians want to “repeal the entire progressive era”–rather than repeal laws that send thugs with guns to bully the harmless. Interviewer Nick asked him about planks the Austrians have deleted, from Constitutionally defending borders against invasion to defense of individual rights of women even when pregnant. Here is what the poster child for the Mises Caucus said about immigration:
Dave: Um, um, I don’t, I don’t particularly have a big problem with the current, uh, position on immigration which I think something says kind of like we’re against unreasonable restrictions or something like that, I don’t know.
[Dave obviously never read the platform, like the other anarchist who ruined Jo’s campaign had never read the platform before or after the immigration plank was ruined by anarchist meddling to invite invasions in 2018]. (link) Dave then rambled on about abortion.
Dave: There’s a few issues, I handful of issues, um, um, immigration, abortion, where there are, it is, there is a divide amongst libertarians. I don’t know that the party necessarily needs to take a strong position one way or the other on those issues.
[The Libertarian platform of 1972 took a strong stand that women retained individual rights and protection from outside aggression even when pregnant. That plank was copied by the Supreme Court into Roe V Wade shortly after the November votes were counted, in January, 1973.] (link)
Dave: Now the abortion plank, on the other hand, might actually really be a dealbreaker for a lot of people. If the fact that we condemn bigotry is in the platform, is actually a dealbreaker for someone, I’m okay with that.
Dave: If you are pro-life, and the position is that abortion is murder… The pro-life position certainly is that it’s murder. If it is murder, to say that the government has no… no… Even if you, at a certain point, it’s murder, to say that the government has no role in that is, that is a pro-choice position. The the idea of saying, you can have whatever feeling you want about abortion, but it should be legal, that’s the pro-choice position. So the question is should we have a pro-choice plank in our platform, when libertarians are very divided on that issue, I would say no.
The interviewer then asked If life begins at the moment of conception, what is the role of government in protecting the life of the unborn?
Dave: Well, look, I’m an anCap. I don’t think there is any role for government ever doing anything. But if you’re saying “what is the role of protecting innocent life from being murdered?” I would say anyone capable of doing it has a moral right to do that.
[The Austrian Von Mises anarchist insurgents faction recently insisted on adding a plank demanding that the death sentence NOT be administered by government. Whether that means privatized executions is not explained. But Colorado clinic shooter Robert Dear and a dozen or so religious fanatics have murdered and wounded doctors, policemen and bystanders while exercising their moral right to enforce their feelings and beliefs by deadly aggression.] (link) (link) But let Dave tell it…
Dave: Um, I mean, look, the, practically speaking, in in today’s America, it would, the, uh, our federal government is the most tyrannical force in the world, um, yeah, probably it’d be much better off being left to the states, being left to localities for them to make their own decisions– there are places in the world where abortion is illegal and they do not have this kind of, like, abortion Gestapo nightmare situation that pro-choicers create. Um, I don’t , nuh, you know, murder being illegal does create a black market for murderers, um, but it’s still better than murder being legal.
[Remember, this guy wants to run for President of the United States of the most tyrannical force in the world without reading the LP platform or the Constitution. Ask yourself how many votes the LP will get in Kansas, California or Virginia once women voters are aware of this verbiage. The function of the Libertarian party is to run candidates for office on a viable platform. The spoiler votes we earn allow voters to decide to make the worst party lose without endorsing communist or fascist variants of socialism. That pressure causes the repeal of coercive and violent laws that violate individual rights. Remember the draft?](link) Nick asked Dave what is the function of the Libertarian party?
Dave: Well, um, I think the function of the Libertarian party, um, the national level, is to spread our message and kind of plant a flag for the American people to say that there is an alternative, to this kind of binary, to this left-right Democrat-Republican binary, and here’s the other option, and that’s…
[The “pro-life” guy then rambles on and on without suggesting the repeal of a single deadly, violent, destructive law the Republicans and Democrats pass and enforce by threat of deadly force. Listen to it yourself…]
One anarchist reversed our 328% vote gain, costing us 8 years and ballot access. Want more?

Forcing women into the labor of involuntary reproduction is enslavement. Pregnant women are individual persons, not Siamese twins. “All persons born…” states the constitutional beginning of personhood in the USA’s 14th Amendment. The 13th Amendment says:
Section 1 Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2 Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
The original (link) 1972 Libertarian Party platform contained a plank about this which read:
We support an end to all subsidies for childbearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children. We further support the repeal of all laws restricting voluntary birth control or voluntary termination of pregnancies during their first hundred days. We shall oppose all coercive measures to control population growth.
The Supreme Court was at that time struggling with a 9th Amendment 5th Circuit case in Texas, which State sought to force a woman to reproduce against her will. Meanwhile in Canada a doctor once persecuted in Europe by Positive Christian National Socialists, had opened a clinic serving women in Quebec.(link) Dr Henry Morgentaler was charged with offences in 1970–before the Libertarian party was organized in Colorado.
Pro-choice, pro-defense LP Happytalism earned maybe 4000 votes but also got one electoral vote in the November elections, which made us impossible to ignore when the real votes were counted in January 1973.
Sixteen days after the Electoral votes were counted, the Supreme Court decision of 22JAN1973 began with (a) For the stage prior to approximately the end of the first trimester, the abortion decision and its effectuation must be left to the medical judgment of the pregnant woman’s attending physician.(link)
Jurors in Canada agreed with the U.S. Supreme Court and acquitted Dr Morgentaler in 1974. As in Roe, weaponized mysticism sought again to put the doctor in jail, and again the jury preferred medicine to girl-bullying superstition and monstrous teratophilia. That and another election ended the matter so that there are NO girl-bullying laws to threaten doctors in Canada. Comstockists, race-suicide collectivists and persons addled by belief in devils and invisible pals still seek to send men with guns out to force women against their will.(link)
But this was true in the 1840s, when Harriet Beecher Stowe told of how slave women had no defense against rapists nor got to keep their children–as in Texas today, thanks to the gradual, stepwise, cowardly betrayal of women’s rights by committees.
Stowe revealed how God’s Self-appointed Ministers and Elders cowered and shied away from defending the individual rights of all women in 1843:
“Whereas there is in this Assembly great diversity of opinion as to the proper and best mode of action on the subject of slavery; and whereas, in such circumstances, any expression of sentiment would carry with it but little weight, as it would be passed by a small majority, and must operate to produce alienation and division; and whereas the Assembly of 1839, with great unanimity, referred this whole subject to the lower judicatories, to take such order as in their judgment might be adapted to remove the evil;–Resolved, That the Assembly do not think it for the edification of the church for this body to take any action on the subject.” (link)
In other words, God’s mystics adopted a cowardly straddle and betrayed freedom and rights to appease alienation and division as reported in Stowe’s Tale of the Great Dismal Swamp. The Libertarian party was gaining new voters at the rate of 12% per year from 1972 to 1980, when pressure from infiltrating Swamp Republicans changed the platform to single out pregnant women women for discrimination:
“We oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.” Women began crossing the street to avoid Libertarian candidates.
Soon the LP platform changed to this:
“Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.” The LP vote share became a horizontal line from 1980 until Gary Johnson’s pro-choice campaign in 2016, when we more than tripled to 4 million votes with 13 spoiler clout states.
The post-Anschluss national Tea-bertarian party has smothered, omitted, elided, memory-holed all platform utterances to the effect that pregnant women have individual rights.
Just now, only the Kansas Libertarian Party has shown the integrity, consistency and backbone it takes to stand up to the mentality that–before the American Revolution–burned women at the stake to please God, Jesus, Allah and Mohammed. Remember that when you are ready to donate to support a worthy Libertarian organization.(link)

Good bad books: The Economic Waste of Sin, by Lahman Forrest Bower. The Abdingon Press, Cincinnati, 1924. That was the year of the KKKlambakes, the Democratic Party endorsing the Prohibition law President Wilson vetoed, and the party platform plank suddenly recognizing a side effect of prohibition: “Recognizing in narcotic addiction, especially the spreading of heroin addiction among the youth, a grave peril to America and to the human race, we pledge ourselves vigorously to take against it all legitimate and proper measures for education, for control and for suppression at home and abroad.” Bower believed beer was a gateway drug that led inexorably to heroin–NOT heroin as an easily-concealed replacement for Beelzebub’s banned beer! Sixty percent of all our taxes go toward interest on all our various debts, national, state, town and county. The new Austrian Teabertarian party has an opportunity to right a wrong. Libertarians formerly repealed laws declaring some women to be non-individuals,(link) roughly equivalent to “other persons” in Constitutional language or “former persons” in Soviet Socialist usage.(link) But that language was dropped from the platform. However, the recently added “We oppose the administration of the death penalty by the state” is clearly a bid to stop the hanging and electrocution of communist and fascist anarchists convicted of murder, and/or to legalize the hunting of humans as trophy game. That stayed in!
Murder is a hot topic among girl-bulliers, so much so that Texas–the first State to take up arms against the Union and the last to stop hunting down fugitive slaves–has relegalized the payment of bounties for hunting down women suspected of seeking to escape the involuntary labor of forced reproduction.(link) The Mystical Supreme Court majority seems inclined to view this as neither a bill of attainder nor a violation of the 14th or 9th Amendment. The Supreme Court already declared the hunting down of males of reproductive age as involuntary killers and cannon-fodder in foreign wars NOT a violation of the antislavery Amendment.(link) There is precedent for Supreme-court-approved gender discrimination and naked coercion, just like in the days of Dred.(link)
Only the Democratic party still regards pregnant women as rights-holding individuals, yet is troubled by extrajudicial collective shootings–especially in government schools–and 97.5% of the shooters are guys. There is open talk of “scheduling” unhinged whack jobs like Missouri Republican Senate candidate Eric Greitens (link) into the class of “other persons” denied gun rights before Lincoln’s version of the Emancipation Proclamation made them into armed voters.(link) In this heated atmosphere, a modest proposal comes to mind…
How about a Roe v Berserker law banning state governments from infringing the right of the women to keep and bear arms. By arms I mean fully-automatic, extended-clip handguns with laser aiming, mace sprays enriched with dyes, odorants, sarin or bio-weapons, body armor, attack dogs and carte blanche to assign qualified immunity reprisal rights to bodyguards so even successful assailants are readily dispatched. This would also cover adolescent girls in and out of school. Those kind of Second-Amendment-with-teeth laws could easily do away with school shooters AND those girl-bullying rednecks with green teeth chasing women across state lines.(link)

Eric Boehm in a recent Reason magazine article produced a graph trying to put the best face on voter reaction to the anarchist burdening Jo Jorgensen’s otherwise-libertarian campaign. That ticket came in dead last in libertarian-friendly Travis County, Austin Texas. (link) That’s where Roe v Wade was fought and won thanks to the first Libertarian Platform.(link) Wasted votes are the ones that help the Kleptocracy bully women and rob the innocent. Libertarian spoiler votes perform feats: ending the draft, legalizing birth control, reversing the growth of bureaucracy, halting entanglements in deadly foreign violence, rolling back cruel prohibition laws, asset-forfeiture looting and systemic police abuse. That’s clout! That’s WINNING!
Absolute last place in Travis County/Austin TX thanks to Jeremy
But Eric graphed a column showing how the LP ranked in the battle for popular votes where we took third-party place in 2020 even after losing ballot access and wiping out our 328% gain over 2012.(link) Being the real third party is no small matter, because third parties armed with under 3% of the popular vote are the ones that–throughout American history–have written and repealed the law of the land.
First among rabble while losing ballot access and 8 years of gain is poor showing
The way we change laws, however, is by bleeding the looter Kleptocracy of votes, not by absorbing some pathetic anarcho-Socialist rabble’s rounding-error-from-zero vote total. Voters are convinced those flash-in-the-pan parties can be safely ignored. Ranking outcomes by percentage of ideological third party vote puts the LP in third place with anywhere from 0.3 to 3.3% of the vote–a loose fit indeed. But the history of spoiler vote clout shows us the law-changing spoiler effect kicks in at about 1.4% of the popular vote.(link)
Fewer words, more loyal voters!
Those fringe parties, like The Kleptocracy, want the LP to keep planks promising child molesting, uninspected entry of enemy aliens and plague vectors–even executions by vigilantes–such as were added before the 2020 debacle. Observe that the LP only became THE clout-wielding third party after the 2008 “revolt” that deleted a bunch of idiotic platform verbiage. Kleptocracy party platforms each take about 5 hours to read. The LP platform can be recorded in a 30 minute podcast in many languages. Omitting needless words–perhaps even deleting words to make room for new planks could yield balanced verbiage and a platform attractive to voters sick of shrill, grasping extremism.

Including the plank to repeal laws banning abortion
STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
Adopted unanimously by the delegates to the first national convention of the Libertarian Party, on June 17, 1972.
We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state, and defend the rights of the individual.
We hold that each individual has the right to exercise sole dominion over his own life, and has the right to live his life in whatever manner he chooses, so long as he does not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live their lives in whatever manner they choose.
Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than our own grant to government the right to regulate the life of the individual and seize the fruits of his labor without his consent.
We, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that the sole function of government is the protection of the rights of each individual: namely (1) the right to life — and accordingly we support laws prohibiting the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action — and accordingly we oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property — and accordingly we oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support laws which prohibit robbery, trespass, fraud and misrepresentation.
Since government has only one legitimate function, the protection of individual rights, we oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary and contractual relations among individuals. Men should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders on a free market; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of man’s rights, is laissez-faire capitalism.
INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND CIVIL ORDER
The protection of individual rights is the only proper purpose of government. No conflict exists between civil order and individual rights. Both concepts are based on the same fundamental principle: that no individual, group, or government may initiate force against any other individual, group, or government. Government is instituted to protect individual rights. Government is constitutionally limited so as to prevent the infringement of individual rights by the government itself.
Crime
We hold that no action which does not infringe the rights of others can properly be termed a crime. We favor the repeal of all laws creating “crimes without victims” now incorporated in Federal, state and local laws — such as laws on voluntary sexual relations, drug use, gambling, and attempted suicide. We support impartial and consistent enforcement of laws designed to protect individual rights — regardless of the motivation for which these laws may be violated.
Due Process for Criminally Accused
Until such time as a person is proved guilty of a crime, that person should be accorded all possible respect for his individual rights. We are thus opposed to reduction of present safeguards for the rights of the criminally accused. Specifically, we are opposed to preventive detention, so-called “no-knock laws” and all other similar measures which threaten existing rights. We further pledge to do all possible to give life to the Sixth Amendment’s guarantee of a speedy trial, and shall work for appropriate legislation to this end. We support full restitution for all loss suffered by persons arrested, indicted, imprisoned, tried, or otherwise injured in the course of criminal proceedings against them which do not result in their conviction. We look ultimately to the voluntary funding of this restitution.
Freedom of Speech and The Press
We pledge to oppose all forms of censorship, whatever the medium involved. Recent events have demonstrated that the already precarious First Amendment rights of the broadcasting industry are becoming still more precarious. Regulation of broadcasting can no longer be tolerated. We shall support legislation to repeal the Federal Communications Act, and to provide for private ownership of broadcasting rights, thus giving broadcasting First Amendment parity with other communications media. We support repeal of pornography laws.
Protection of Privacy
Electronic and other covert government surveillance of citizens should be restricted to activity which can be shown beforehand, under high, clearly defined standards of probable cause, to be criminal and to present immediate and grave danger to other citizens. The National Census and other government compilations of data on citizens should be conducted on a strictly voluntary basis.
The Right to Keep and Bear Arms
In recognition of the fact that the individual is his own last source of self-defense, the authors of the Constitution guaranteed, in the Second Amendment, the right of the people to keep and bear arms. This reasoning remains valid today. We pledge to uphold that guarantee. We oppose compulsory arms registration.
Volunteer Army
We oppose the draft (Selective Service), believing that the use of force to require individuals to serve in the armed forces or anywhere else is a violation of their rights, and that a well-paid volunteer army is a more effective means of national defense than the involuntary servitude exemplified by the draft. We recommend a complete review and possible reform of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, to guarantee effective and equal protection of rights under the law to all members of the U.S. armed forces, and to promote thereby the morale, dignity, and sense of justice within the military which are indispensable to its efficient and effective operation. We further pledge to work for a declaration of unconditional amnesty for all who have been convicted of, or who now stand accused of, draft evasion and for all military deserters who were draftees.
Property Rights
We hold that property rights are individual rights and, as such, are entitled to the same respect and protection as all other individual rights. We further hold that the owner of property has the full right to control, use, dispose of, or in any manner enjoy his property without interference, until and unless the exercise of his control infringes the valid rights of others. We shall thus oppose restrictions upon the use of property which do not have as their sole end the protection of valid rights.
Unions and Collective Bargaining
We support the right of free men to voluntarily associate in, or to establish, labor unions. We support the concept that an employer may recognize a union as the collective bargaining agent of some or all of his employees. We oppose governmental interference in bargaining, such as compulsory arbitration or the obligation to bargain. We demand that the National Labor Relations Act be repealed. We recognize voluntary contracts between employers and labor unions as being legally and morally binding on the parties to such contracts.
TRADE AND THE ECONOMY
Because each person has the right to offer his goods and services to others on the free market, and because government interference can only harm such free activity, we oppose all intervention by government into the area of economics. The only proper role of government in the economic realm is to protect property rights, adjudicate disputes and protect contracts, and provide a legal framework in which voluntary trade is protected. All efforts by government to redistribute wealth, or to control or manage trade, are improper in a free society.
Money
We favor the establishment of a sound money system. We thus support the private ownership of gold, and demand repeal of all legal tender laws.
The Economy
Government intervention in the economy imperils both the material prosperity and personal freedom of every American. We therefore support the following specific immediate reforms:
(a) reduction of both taxes and government spending;
(b) an end to deficit budgets;
(c) a halt to inflationary monetary policies, and elimination, with all deliberate speed, of the Federal Reserve System;
(d) the removal of all governmental impediments to free trade — including the repeal of the National Labor Relations Act, the Interstate Commerce Act, all antitrust laws, and the abolition of the Department of Agriculture, as the most pressing and critical impediments;
(e) and the repeal of all controls on wages, prices, rents, profits, production, and interest rates.
Subsidies
In order to achieve a free economy in which government victimizes no one for the benefit of anyone else, we oppose all government subsidies to business, labor, education, agriculture, science, the arts, or any other special interests. Those who have entered into these activities with promises of government subsidy will be forewarned by being given a cutoff date beyond which all government aid to their enterprise will be terminated. Relief or exemption from involuntary taxation shall not be considered a subsidy.
Tariffs and Quotas
Like subsidies, tariffs and quotas serve only to give special treatment to favored interests and to diminish the welfare of other citizens. We therefore support abolition of all tariffs and quotas as well as the Tariff Commission and the Customs Court.
Interim Reforms
In order to effect our long-range goals, we recommend, among others, the following interim measures: the adoption of the Liberty Amendment, and provision for greater use of the referendum for reducing or repealing taxes.
Long-Range Goals
Since we believe that every man is entitled to keep the fruits of his labor, we are opposed to all government activity which consists of the forcible collection money or goods from citizens in violation of their individual rights. Specifically, we support the eventual repeal of all taxation. We support a system of voluntary fees for services rendered as a method for financing government in a free society.
DOMESTIC ILLS
Government intervention in current problems, such as crime, pollution, defraud of consumers, health problems, overpopulation, decaying cities, and poverty, is properly limited to protection of individual rights. In those areas where individual rights or voluntary relations are not involved, we support an immediate reduction of government’s present role, and ultimately, a total withdrawal of government intervention, together with the establishment of a legal framework in which private, voluntary solutions to these problems can be developed and implemented.
Pollution
We support the development of an objective system defining individual property rights to air and water. We hold that ambiguities in the area of these rights (e.g. concepts such as “public property”) are a primary cause of our deteriorating environment. Whereas we maintain that no one has the right to violate the legitimate property rights of others by pollution, we shall strenuously oppose all attempts to transform the defense of such rights into any restriction of the efforts of individuals to advance technology, to expand production, or to use their property peacefully.
Consumer Protection
We shall support strong and effective laws against fraud and misrepresentation. We shall oppose, however, that present and prospective so-called “consumer-protection” legislation which infringes upon voluntary trade.
Overpopulation
We support an end to all subsidies for childbearing built into our present laws, including all welfare plans and the provision of tax-supported services for children. We further support the repeal of all laws restricting voluntary birth control or voluntary termination of pregnancies during their first hundred days. We shall oppose all coercive measures to control population growth.
Education
We support the repeal of all compulsory education laws, and an end to government operation, regulation, and subsidy of schools. We call for an immediate end of compulsory busing.
Poverty and Unemployment
We support repeal of all laws which impede the ability of any person to find employment — including, but not limited to, minimum wage laws, so-called “protective” labor legislation for women and children, governmental restrictions on the establishment of private day-care centers, the National Labor Relations Act, and licensing requirements. We oppose all government welfare and relief projects and “aid to the poor” programs, inasmuch as they are not within the proper role of government, and do contribute to unemployment. All aid to the poor should come from private sources.
FOREIGN POLICY
The principles which guide a legitimate government in its relationships with other governments are the same as those which guide relationships among individuals and relationships between individuals and governments. It must protect itself and its citizens against the initiation of force from other nations. While we recognize the existence of totalitarian governments, we do not recognize them as legitimate governments. We will grant them no moral sanction. We will not deal with them as if they were proper governments. To do so is to ignore the rights of their victims and rob those victims of the knowledge that we know they have been wronged.
ECONOMIC
Foreign Aid
We support an end to the Federal foreign aid program.
Ownership in Unclaimed Property
We pledge to oppose recognition of claims by fiat, by nations or international bodies, of presently unclaimed property, such as the ocean floor and planetary bodies. We urge the development of objective standards for recognizing claims of ownership in such property.
Currency Exchange Rates
We pledge to oppose all governmental attempts to peg or regulate currency exchange rates. International trade can truly be free only when currency exchange rates reflect the free-market value of respective currencies.
MILITARY
Military Alliances
The United States should abandon its attempts to act as policeman for the world, and should enter into alliances only with countries whose continued free existence is vital to the protection of the freedom of all American citizens. Under such an alliance, the United States may offer the protection of its nuclear umbrella, but our allies would provide their own conventional defense capabilities. We should in particular disengage from any present alliances which include despotic governments.
Military Capability
We shall support the maintenance of a sufficient military establishment to defend the United States against aggression. We should have a sufficient nuclear capacity to convince any potential aggressor that it cannot hope to survive a first strike against the United States. But, as our foreign commitments are reduced, and as our allies assume their share of the burden of providing a conventional war capability, we should be able to reduce the size of our conventional defense, and thus reduce the overall cost and size of our total defense establishment.
DIPLOMATIC
Diplomatic Recognition
The United States should establish a scheme of recognition consistent with the principles of a free society, the primary principle being that, while individuals everywhere in the world have unalienable rights, governments which enslave individuals have no legitimacy whatsoever.
Secession
We shall support recognition of the right to secede. Political units or areas which do secede should be recognized by the United States as independent political entities where: (1) secession is supported by a majority within the political unit, (2) the majority does not attempt suppression of the dissenting minority, and (3) the government of the new entity is at least as compatible with human freedom as that from which it seceded.
The United Nations
We support withdrawal of the United States from the United Nations. We further support a Constitutional Amendment designed to prohibit the United States from entering into any treaty under which it relinquishes any portion of its sovereignty.

Republican policies cause major crashes
Find out the juicy details behind the mother of all economic collapses. Prohibition and The Crash–Cause and Effect in 1929 is available in two languages on Amazon Kindle, each at the cost of a pint of craft beer.

Bar chart of membership from Communist party website w/ sevenfold increase
Republican policies after passage of the Prohibition Amendment arguably increased Communist Party membership among Americans. CP membership roughly tripled in 1920-25, when the first prohibition recession hit, then increased sevenfold after The Great Depression resulted from prohibitionist property confiscation. The acceleration was well under weigh before FDR won using the Liberal Party repeal plank.(link)
Nixon was elected before Roe v Wade, when world population was half what it is now
You can see from this and other prison crowding graphs that Nixon’s mania for Republican prohibitionism increased prison populations sevenfold, from 200,000 to 1,600,000. Most of the increase were young, black and latino users of harmless enjoyables such as cannabis, mescaline, LSD, mushrooms and plant leaf extracts. None of them sought to harm anyone (absence of mens rea) and all of them sought only their own happiness. The equivocation of “vices” into “crimes” is fallacious. Prohibitionism spits in the face of free-market liberalism and laissez-faire economic theory. It replaces voluntary trade with the promiscuous abuse of violent and deadly force against those who neither defraud nor coerce others.(link)
China tried this sort of violence when Britain used opium exports to finance its conquest and subjugation of India. The resulting wars, revolutions and violence had by the time of our Civil War killed off a Chinese population roughly equal to everyone living in the U.S.. The Hague antiopium Convention interfered with exploitation by Britain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria and Germany of the Balkans as source and their African and Asian colonies as dumping grounds for refined opiates. WW1 resulted. The Armistices, Versailles Treaty and later Opium Conventions combined with alcohol prohibitionism to add the USA to the export markets for addictive narcotics.
Herbert Hoover’s Moratorium (on brains and on German heroin) wrecked the German economy and got pharma cartels to back Hitler’s belligerent Socialism so that WW2 followed as logically from “A Planned Economy on a World Scale” as WW1 did from seizure of Germany’s “chemical drugs” as reparations while strangling their legality.(link) Germany and Japan, smelling a communist plot, withdrew from the League of Nations, used submarines to run drugs past prohibitionist and tariff blockades and made enough money doing it to wreck much of the planet’s wealth and progress fighting for those markets. Prohibitionist China is a dictatorship nobody wants to live in.
The most wasteful thing anyone can do is waste a vote on either half of the prohibitionist Kleptocracy.(link) Whenever they lose, they look at the millions of votes cast for Libertarian platform policies. Those expensive regrets are the only way for Republicans to break free of book-burning bigots and Democrats to let go of totalitarian looter-state policies as a utopian vision.
